High Pointe apartments construction begins in downtown Sheboygan
SHEBOYGAN – Construction is underway on a downtown apartment complex that will bring an additional 91 units to Sheboygan.
When finished, the High Pointe apartments will have river view and lake view apartments with large units on the top floor, similar to penthouse suites.
The $15 million complex will include 91 market-rate units with amenities including a community room, bike storage and about 100 garage parking units with additional outside parking behind the building.
Apartments range from lofts to three-bedroom units with rent starting in the $800-$900 range, according to Scott Revolinski, one of the project’s developers.
Other features include floor to ceiling windows in some units and a rooftop deck. A garage will be on the first floor of the building, with apartments on the above four floors.
The building is expected to open to tenants in early summer 2018.
“It’s a pretty-looking building, and I think everyone will be proud to have it in our community, and I think there are a lot of people who will want to live in this facility,” Sheboygan Mayor Mike Vandersteen said. “It has a nice view of the lake in the upper floors and will be fantastic.”
The project comes on the heels of two other newly constructed apartment complexes — Encore Apartments at the former Boston Store site and the Portscape Apartments on South Pier — that combined will bring approximately 300 apartments downtown.
The project, first announced in 2014, saw several delays as a result of financing, the removal of contaminated soil at the site, which had previously served as a gas station, and electrical utility relocation.
